CITIC Telecom International has extended its managed security services (MSS) alliance with Fortinet to allow the Hong Kong based operator to roll out a new advanced threat protection service in APAC.

Under the agreement, CITIC Telecom will roll out the TrustCSI ATP service this quarter.

The new service will combine CITIC Telecom's TrustCSI managed security services with Fortinet's security offerings including its FortiGate network security platform, FortiSandbox threat protection appliances and FortiWeb web application firewalls.

CITIC Telecom will also expand its current TrustCSI unified threat management service, currently available in Greater China, to the wider APAC region.

With the deal CITIC Telecom has become Fortinet's first pan-APAC managed security services partner.

“As a customer-centric company, we aim to provide customers with the highest quality managed services, thus enabling them to lower their IT management costs and leverage the advantages of advanced technology,” CITIC Telecom CEO Stephen Ho said.

“Through our partnership with Fortinet, we allow customers to connect up their businesses, quickly and securely."

Analyst firm Frost & Sullivan predicts that the APAC managed security services market will surge from $2.48 billion in 2015 to $3.77 billion in 2018. The partnership represents an attempt by the companies to better capitalize on this growing market opportunity.
