Comverse has joined the Rich Communication Suite (RCS) program of the GSM Association.

The company says taking part in the working group strengthens its position to help introduce RCS services into the mobile marketplace, which will enhance interoperability and user experience, as well as boost revenues for service providers.

RCS is seen improving user experience by providing presence information in the address book, showing at glance who is available to talk or chat; allowing handsets to display the back-and-forth conversation history thread of message chat sessions in progress; enabling easy-to-initiate and use multi-party chart session; and allowing users, during voice calls, to swap live and recorded video and look at web sites and maps together.
