The ever changing IT and telecom landscape has prompted more enterprises worldwide to deploy converged voice and data networks. In Asia Pacific, for example, the Yankee Group says 60% of multinational companies are in the process of integrating converged voice and data networks, despite uncertainty on their cost-effectiveness. Some 95% of European firms have implemented or are planning to implement a converged voice and data network, while 66% of Brazil's enterprises have implemented voice and data convergence in some or all of their networks, driven mainly by cost savings and plans to implement bandwidth-intensive applications.
