DSL aggregation market to hit $10.5b in '09

Annual worldwide DSL aggregation hardware revenues will grow 65% between 2005 and 2009 to $10.5 billion and port shipments will hit 204 million, research firm Infonetics Research said.

The report said the number of DSL subscribers jumped 27% between 2004 and 2005 to almost 126 million, and is expected to grow another 96% between 2005 and 2009, when it will reach 245 million worldwide.

'The worldwide DSL aggregation market continued its healthy growth in the fourth quarter and throughout 2005, as service providers expanded their footprint and bandwidth in preparation for the delivery of high-revenue IPTV and video services to their subscribers,' said Jeff Heynen, directing analyst at Infonetics Research.

The report further said DSL ports jumped 38% between 2004 and 2005, from 59.8 million to 82.3 million, and revenue increased 23%, from $5.19 billion to $6.37 billion

In terms of vendor, Alcatel leads in worldwide DSL aggregation revenue and port market share, followed by Huawei, and Siemens in third.
