CSR's new enhanced GPS (or eGPS) chip features embedded Bluetooth and FM radio technology designed to improve location-based services in mobile phones.

CSR's Bluetooth silicon, with embedded support for eGPS, allows satellite measurements to be maintained even when the host processor in the handset is powered down, the company said.

eGPS augments traditional GPS cellular network measurements while reducing power consumption. Last month, CSR teamed up with Motorola in establishing the eGPS forum aimed at advancing eGPS technology.
