Social networking site Bebo plans to launch a Microsoft-powered instant-messaging program this fall. The deal signals early, if niche, support for a Microsoft plan to build a business around letting other sites incorporate its Windows Live Web services.

The Associated Press and NBC Universal sign a deal that allows AP to include video links and other exclusive content from the 2008 Summer Olympics in a premium online service. NBC Universal, a unit of General Electric, owns the broadcast and video rights to the Games.

Online measurement company comScore says it is refining how it presents data on search market share to reflect changes in user behavior. ComScore wants to capture searches done in other ways and on other sites, for information on Wikipedia, for instance, and product listings at eBay's auction site and the Amazon.com retail store.
