Chunghwa Telecom will spend NT$30 billion ($930.7 million) a year over the next three years towards expanding its fiber network.

LG'stelecom units have agreed to allow LG Telecom to absorb LG Dacom and LG Powercomm, and to appoint former communications minister Lee Sang-chul to lead the combined company.

Microsoft plans to launch a web services platform for mobile phones in China, in an effort to boost Bing's market share in the Baidu-dominated market.

Networking solution provider Brocade and Motorola havepartnered to co-develop WLAN, voice-over-WLAN, could computing and wireless broadband technologies.

Motorola has secured a contract from Irish operator Imagine to replace its existing wireless infrastructure with a Wimax network. Motorola will provide integration and support services as well as vendor financing.

RIM has launched the BlackBerry Storm2 in seven European countries, as well as South Africa, through operator partner Vodafone.
