Cisco and Tata Consultancy Services will establish a new technology lab in Chennai, India, to develop IT solutions for next-generation data centers.

Motorola has been awarded the exclusive rights to sell Radio Frequency over Glass PON solutions developed by Alloptic.Thetechnology promises to allow operators to develop an all-air network, a Motorola spokesperson said. Motorola is lobbying to have RFoG adopted as an industry standard.

US operator Qwest reported a 49% fall in income to $185 million in Q4. The decline was mainly due to tax effects - revenue slumped 3% to $3.32 billion, and the result beat market expectations - the Associated Press said.
