Vietnamese operator VinaPhone has joined the Conexus Mobile Alliance, expanding the coalition's reach to over 240 million mobile subscribers. The Alliance now has 11 member operators. Meanwhile, Conexus said its members will soon launch a unified roaming rate of $0.20 per SMS.

Australian mobile operator Optus has launched a new app store via its Optus Zoo portal, with an initial 1,000 apps split between the Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile platforms.

Telecom NZ and mobile messaging service provider Sybase 365 have partnered to develop a joint IPX voice service offering, which will incorporate Telecom NZ's softswitching technology.

Global IT spending is on pace to decline by a record 5.2% in 2009, but will return to 3.3% growth in 2010 to reach a total of $3.3 trillion, Gartner said. The APAC market will grow by 5% next year to $515.6 billion.

Koryolink, Orascom’s North Korean cellco, posted ebitda of $9.99 million on sales of $18.5m in Q3. ARPU was $21.60, as it added another 21,400 customers in the quarter to take the total to 69,261, Orascom said.

Google is believed to be planning to launch a beta version of its new Google Chrome OS on Thursday, during which time it will reveal its launch plans for 2010.
