NTT DoCoMo is eying more investments in Asian mobile carriers, and is in talks with a number of them, CEO Ryuji Yamada toldReuters.

BSNL has shelved plans to hive off its towers and other infrastructure into a separate company until after a corporate restructuring.

TatungInfoComm will increase its network deployment investment budget by 60% over the next four to five years as it rolls out Wimax in Taiwan.

Thai operator Samart Telecoms has contracted Alcatel-Lucent to supply an optical network for TOT's IP broadband project. Alcatel-Lucent said it was the largest transmission deal of this kind in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Viettel has contracted Huawei to deploy a HSPA+ network in Vietnam. Huawei will construct 3,000 base stations for the 21Mbps network.

Indian mobile operator Loop Telecom has rolled out GSM services in Karnataka and Kerala. Loop already operates in Tamil Nadu and Orissa.
