Nokia unveils a new short-range wireless connection that it claims is smaller and more energy-efficient than current Bluetooth technology. The new radio technology, dubbed 'Wibree,' can work alongside Bluetooth short-range wireless connections but use just a fraction of the power, Nokia said.

Globe Telecom unveils GLive mobile media service in Philippines, following a service trial of 16,000 users. Globe Telecom said the service brings interactive and engaging 'content teasers' to the idle screens of mobile users.

MobileOne introduces the Palm Treo 750v with Windows Mobile in Asia. The 750v will be available from October through the Singaporean mobile operator, marking the first time that Palm with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 has been available in Asia over a wireless 3G/UMTS network.
