Nokia Siemens Networks wins a deal to improve the railway communication system for the Hefei-Nanjing Line. The Hefei-Nanjing passenger-dedicated line will be China's first modern passenger service line for commercial use.

MobiFone reports that its cellular networks ranked highest in quality among three mobile service providers tested by Vietnam's Posts and Telematics Quality Control Directorate. The testing showed that the quality of the MobiFone's networks met the country's standards.

Reliance Communication embarks on a mobile advertising in 10,000 towns and numerous villages. The carrier said the promotion will primarily include SMS and MMS advertising campaign.

Motorola Ventures, the handset vendor's venture capital arm, has made an investment in Simpel Corporation, a developer of silicon MEMS-based solutions for mobile imaging applications. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Reuters journalists are trialing a multimedia toolkit for news-gathering in a joint trial between the global news service and Nokia Research Center. The toolkit comprises multimedia, text editing tools and live video streaming, and automatically combines location and other information to provide context for the story, Nokia said.

Alcatel-Lucent has won the rights to distribute BlackBerry devices to enterprise customers in China following an agreement with RIM. The smartphones will be available for Chinese enterprise customers later this year.
