Hong Kong regulator Oftaplans to auction additional spectrum at 850 Mhz, 900 Mhz and 2 Ghz in the “last quarter of 2010 at the earliest.” There is 2x 5Mhz of paired spectrum available at both 850 Mhz and 900 Mhz and 9.7 Mhz of unpaired spectrum at 2 Ghz.

Malaysia’s smallest cellco Digi has broken Maxis’ iPhone monopoly. It started offering the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G in Malaysia on March 31, while Maxis said it planned to spend more than MYR700 million ($214.8m) on 3G network expansion this year.

Cable&Wireless Worldwide has won a £30 million ($45.6m) contract to provide converged voice and data network services to United Utilities, the UK’s largest water company. The five-year deal covers 300 sites including data centres, water works and two key contact centres.
