PLDT will launch an FTTH pilot later this year in eight districts, expecting to sign up 1,000 FTTH customers.

PLDT chairman Manny Pangilinan has tipped a "strong" Q2 profit, driven by rapid subscriber growth. The operator\'s customer base grew 17% in Q1.

T-Systems and the business customer branch of Deutsche Telecom have contracted Alcatel-Lucent to provide them with convergent communication solutions.

The mobile music market is expected to grow into a $2.5 billion industry in 2009, and reach nearly $5.5 billion in 2013, Juniper Researchsaid.

BT will spend £500,000 ($796,250) on a UNICEF project to bring computers and internet access to 40 rural Chinese schools housing up to 600,000 students.

Singapore cellco M1 said it 2G mobile network will undergo an IP upgrade to improve network efficiency and prepare for future 3.5G and 4G upgrades, it said. Nokia Siemens Networks will carry out the upgrade, which is expected to be complete by 2011.
