FASTTAKES: Silicon Motion, Telstra, AT&T

Taiwanese semiconductor firm Silicon Motion signs a deal to buy South Korea-based FCI, a designer of radio frequency circuits. Under the deal, Silicon Motion will acquire all of the outstanding common shares of FCI for a purchase price of $90 million, which will include a combination of cash and shares.

Telstra orders Iridium-based satellite systems from Beam Communications worth $3.5 million. Telstra will receive a variety of fixed-site terminals, in-vehicle satellite telephones and accessories for handheld devices for rural telephony.

AT&T reports that the iPhone, Apple 's first mobile handset, is on schedule to hit the US market at the end of June. AT&T's wireless unit has an exclusive U.S. deal to sell the highly anticipated new handset, a Reuters report also said.
