Skype’s revenue grew 29% year-on-year to $185 million for the quarter, according to eBay’s Q3 filing. It added another 40 million users to take its total to 521 million. eBay’s income fell 29% to $492 million despite a 6% improvement in sales.

Indian infrastructure company Gemini has submitted the lowest bid in a BNSL tender for 7,000 Wimax base stations in rural areas.

Around 560,000 Wimax subscribers were added worldwide in Q2 – an increase of 16.5% over Q1, according to Maravedis Research.

Mobistar’s Luxemburg subsidiary, VOXmobile, will re-brand to Orange on October 28. The company will remain a fully-owned company of Mobistar.

Cisco yesterday unveiled the second generation of its Integrated Services Router, the ISR G2, the first stage of its borderless networks architecture.

TTK, Russia’s second biggest telco, said Q2 net income from its telecom services business had increased 23% over last year to 9.98 billion roubles ($343 million).
