While international calls have been growing modestly of late, 14% in 2007 and 12% in 2008, Skype's growth has shown a stratospheric - 41% growth in 2008.
TeleGeography's Stephan Beckert said that in the five years since Skype has existed they have captured 8% or 33 billion of the 417 billion minutes of international calls placed. Amazingly, every call starts with the comment, "I can't believe the internet thing lets me call for free."
