The Philippines' Globe Telecom has expanded the payment options for its Globe Charge mobile payment card reader via a partnership with Visa.

Globe Charge aims to allow users to turn Android and iOS devices into point of sale payment card terminals.

Through the collaboration with Visa, Globe Charge merchants will now be able to accept Visa credit and debit card payments via their smartphones and tablets.

In order to use Globe Charge, merchants need an Android or iOS device with a Globe or TM SIM card and a GCash account, as well as the Globe Charge mobile card reader device and the mobile app installed. Globe does not charge for data transmissions for the service.

“We partnered with Visa to provide more payment options for small and medium enterprises using Globe Charge, effectively growing their customer base, and in the long run, their businesses,” G-Xchange president Paolo Baltao said.

“With Globe Charge, enterprises can change the way they do business, enabling them to provide an easier, faster and safer payment solution for their clients using the latest mobile technologies.”
