SES New Skies has launched GSM backhaul services for Telikom Papua New Guinea on its NSS-5 satellite.
Under a five-year contract, Telikom PNG uses 36MHz of bandwidth on the NSS-5 spacecraft at the orbital location of 183 degrees East.
NSS-5 is SES New Skies' principal connectivity satellite for the Pacific Ocean region. The powerful spacecraft is one of the few satellites that can connect North America with all major destinations in the Pacific Rim. NSS-5 also provides optimal coverage of Oceania and its numerous islands.
