Huawei has launched what it is billing as the industry's first commercially available SDN mobile app.

The SDN IPv6 App is now available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, Huawei said. It is designed to help simplify carriers' transition to IPv6 by simplifying network architecture.

The app utilizes DevOps functionality to generate and load various transition technologies on simple SDN forwarding devices. It uses an open API interface.

Huawei president of fixed networks Zha Jun said the app is designed to allow operators to adjust and select the best transition technologies during an IPv6 network revamp.

“Huawei's SDN IPv6 App is the industry's first carrier SDN infrastructure-based app to realize the fast provisioning of telco services,” he said. “Huawei is committed to helping carriers achieve business success with flexible and open network solutions.”
