ISRO prepares for Cartosat-II launch

(India Business Insight via NewsEdge) The Indian Space Research Organization is preparing for the launch of Cartosat-II, the next launch under the Indian Remote Sensing Satellite series, by end of 2006.

Cartosat-I was boosted into space in 2004. Cartosat-II would be launched on ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle from Sriharikota.

ISRO invested Rs80-100 crore ($17.2 million-$21.4 million) to develop the next launch vehicle to be used.

ISRO is also set to launch INSAT 4B on the Ariane vehicle from Kourou in French Guyana in the first quarter of 2007.
