JDSU has added new features to its T-BERD/MTS-6000A platform, making it the first portable test instrument to provide 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GigE) transmission control protocol (TCP) throughput testing.

The tester can accommodate up to 64 simultaneous TCP sessions while also supporting the concurrent testing of up to four background traffic streams (patent pending).

JDSU’s new 10GigE TCP Wirespeed capabilities provide technicians with powerful throughput testing – at Layer 4 – which can help quickly determine whether a problem is occurring in the service provider’s network or in the customer’s applications.

Additionally, the TCP sessions can be captured and decoded directly on the T-BERD/MTS-6000A display using the Wireshark protocol analysis tool.
