Kaltura in India is powering Viacom18’s newly launched digital VOD service VOOT.

The ad-supported video streaming service had launched earlier in April with close to 17,000 hours of domestic and international content, from a multitude of popular channels associated with Viacom18, including the flagship Hindi GEC- Colors, Nick, MTV India among others.

Kaltura OTT TV also offers Viacom18 the option to add additional advanced monetization options across all major platforms and devices in the future. Viacom18 will also leverage Kaltura's market leading Universal DRM solution.

Kaltura’s OTT TV combined with Viacom18’s user experience strategy allows subscribers to enjoy the personalized viewing experience, including advanced content discovery, an intelligent recommendation engine, favorites, and watch lists.

“In this space, product and technology both play complementary pivotal roles,” said Gaurav Gandhi, COO of Viacom18 Digital Ventures. “While we are focused on enhancing the engagement through our entertaining content and a truly differentiated UX/UI, leveraging the best of technical knowhow will lead to a more enriching viewing experience for our consumers.”

Kaltura chairman and CEO Ron Yekutiel said Asia Pacific is a tremendous growth area for the company. “We are seeing great demand for our wide range of OTT TV, enterprise, and education video solutions across the region.”
