Korean operator KT has finally managed to secure commitments from two of the three national television networks for its IPTV service.

The company has reached agreements with KBS and SBS over the retransmission of their content via IPTV.

According to company spokespeople, KT is also close to securing an agreement with the third broadcaster, MBC.

KT has been in talks with the networks for months in advance of the roll-out of IPTV.

The operator controls about 45% of the country's broadband market.

But according to the Korea Times, KT and the networks have still yet to reach a consensus on the most hotly-debated issue - how much the networks will be paid for their content.

Instead, the networks have agreed to allow KT to rebroadcast their content for three months for free, and will then determine content fees based on subscriber numbers.

Operators SK Broadband and LG Dacom are reported to be in talks with the networks, hoping to reach their own arrangements.
