Level 3 Communications and Verizon have announced separate deals to link to the Carrier Ethernet Exchange operated by CENX.

Level 3 said that it has an operational connection in Chicago to the Carrier Ethernet Exchange, which “significantly simplifies and expedites the delivery of its Ethernet services.”

Meanwhile, Verizon is now offering its Carrier Ethernet services to its global wholesale customers via the new CENX Carrier Ethernet Exchange in New York City.

CENX launched its Ethernet Exchanges as a service for simplifying carrier-to-carrier Ethernet interconnections and enabling carriers to more easily expand Carrier Ethernet services beyond their own networks.

At the CENX exchange, carriers configure their network interconnection to CENX as they choose. CENX then handles the translations and interoperability between carrier customers as services are turned up, streamlining the detailed engineering of such service setups.
