How many people steal a cellphone and then use it to call police‾ The Grand Forks Herald reports that a Duluth, Minnesota man snatched a cellphone, then, when he wanted a ride home, called police on said phone claiming he had been assaulted.

Less than 90 minutes after approaching a woman at a pool hall, asking for a cigarette and grabbing her purse as she was opening it, the 29-year-old suspect called police on the women's cellphone to say he had been jumped.

Duluth Police sergeant Don Boso said it appeared to the arresting officer that the man had not been attacked but was intoxicated and needed a ride. The suspect was identified by the woman and he is facing theft charges.
