Microsoft launches Windows Mobile 6.5

Microsoft announced it will formally introduce its Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system on May 11 in conjunction with its Tech-Ed 2009 event in Los Angeles.

According to the Windows Mobile Team Blog, the Tech-Ed presentation is targeted at both developers and IT professionals, promising a demo and an outline of WinMo milestones to come.

While Microsoft has not yet confirmed an official timetable for when devices based on WinMo 6.5 to hit the shelves, most onlookers expect phones to begin shipping in September.
