Mobile phones outnumber people in Germany, says group

There are more mobile phones in Germany than inhabitants, the telecom industry federation Bitkom, in an AFP report, said.

The AFP report said As of August 1, there were a total of 82.8 million mobile phone accounts in Germany compared with a population of about 82 million, according to Bitkom.

More and more people were taking advantage of favorable price trends to acquire a second mobile phone, Bitkom further said.
