Mobile browsing may be productive and addictive, but watch where you're going. Recent research suggests that 64% of mobile internet browsers have bumped into someone else or tripped over while walking.
Mobile social networking site itsmy.com surveyed 1,000 of its members for this research, determining that 43% of males and 55% of females admitted to having collided with another person.
In response, the site has petitioned the European Union to erect road signs warning pedestrians to be aware of their surroundings while browsing. The company also intends to submit a similar proposal to US authorities.
While itsmy.com is aware of the social networking possibilities of bumping into a stranger, a company spokesperson said, it has to consider the safety of its users, as well as other pedestrians.
