Nokia's «Here Auto» connects car with the cloud

Here, the mapping and location business of Nokia, announced its Connected Driving offer, which is designed to help car makers and in-vehicle technology suppliers connect the car and the driver to the cloud.

The Connected Driving – covers Here Auto, Here Auto Cloud, and Here Auto Companion, and Here Traffic- offers a full range of automotive products and services that builds on high-quality and fresh map to go beyond navigation, Nokia said.

Here Auto delivers maps and other navigation information to the car’s in-dash infotainment system.

Here Auto Cloudgives drivers always-on access to several services, including real-time traffic updates that aim to help drivers avoid congested areas, road closures or blockages that occur en route. Drivers can also get recommendations on places to eat, parking spots, information on where to charge an electric vehicle or where to find the most inexpensive fuel.

Here Auto Companion apps deliver music and social experiences as well as let drivers check their gas tank and tire pressure from their smartphones. With these apps, drivers can synchronize their favorite places and routes across their devices so that they won't need to re-enter their route when they get in the driver's seat.

Nokia will show off the Here Connected Driving offering at theInternational Motor Showin Frankfurt, Germany starting on September 10.
