NTT Communications (NTT Com) and Vietnam's largest international telecom carrier, Vietnam Datacommunication Company (VDC), announced that they have agreed to form a partnership to offer IP-VPN services in the country.

In a statement, the two firms said the partnership is expected to provide business entities in Vietnam with multi protocol label switching-based IP-VPN services.

The two companies will start selling services in September, the statement said.

Multinational companies in Vietnam will now be able to benefit from easy access to the reliable MPLS-based IP-VPN services, which offers highly competitive levels of security, speed and quality by NTT Com and VDC, the statement further said.

Social and political stability in the country has led to an increasing number of multinational companies, including 500 Japanese firms, according to the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam.

NTT Com and VDC have been cooperating to provide international frame relay services in Vietnam since 2000.

MPLS technology sets protocols and other standards for high-speed label switching in large networks and enables construction of IP-VPN that use labels, not IP addresses, to determine destinations.
