Orange ranks at the top of the Business Ethernet services market, while NTT rounds out the top five, according to Vertical Systems Group.

Vertical's 2009 Global Business Ethernet Leaderboard ranked Orange as the top global provider of Ethernet services for enterprises, followed by Colt, Verizon, AT&T and NTT.

The rankings are based on the number of Business Ethernet ports installed at enterprise customer sites outside of the provider's primary home country.

Providers cited on the 2009 Global Leaderboard each hold 4% or more of the market based on ports as of year-end 2009.

“While Orange narrowly edged Colt as the Global share leader for 2009, both have invested substantial resources in their worldwide network footprints, particularly in Europe," said Rick Malone, Principal at Vertical Systems Group.

"As for the US-based providers, Verizon has been the most aggressive in developing its global Ethernet service offerings, resulting in its solid Leaderboard showing," he added.
