Ortel Communications in India has introduced a free broadband offer for all Ortel cable TV subscribers.

The offer will be available to Ortel’s cable TV subscribers in the states of Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh – areas where broadband services are delivered over Ortel’s cable TV network.

It includes a free data limit every month for a year and a subscriber will be charged a nominal amount for any usage exceeding the free data limit. Those who wish to migrate to other Ortel broadband plans are allowed to do so even within the one-year offer period.

Bibhu Prasad Rath, president and CEO at Ortel Communications, said: “Our objective is to penetrate deeper into markets by making the Internet affordable. This free broadband offer will be useful for those who are having limited download and unlimited uploads”.

Ortel has recently deployed DOCSIS 3.0 to help push faster adoption of digital TV among cable TV customers.
