Pacnet has announced the opening of Singapore's first data center with Tier III design certification from the Uptime Institute.

The $90 million CloudSpace II (SGCS2) facility received the certification from the Uptime Institute last month.

Pacnet will use the facility to provide colocation and connectivity services, as well as managed services including Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) and Pacnet Enabled Network (PEN).

The carrier-neutral facility is directly connected to Pacnet's subsea cable networks. Pacnet said with the launch, it is now operating 455,000-square feet of data center space across 14 cities in the APAC region.

Data center operator Digital Realty Trust has separately signed connectivity agreements with the Singapore Internet Exchange (SGIX) and BlueTel Networks.

Digital Realty said the deals will expand the connectivity options for its data center clients in Singapore.

BlueTel Networks will provide local loop and backhaul connectivity, and clients can connect to SGIX's carrier neutral internet exchange.

As part of the agreement, a neutral peering point will be established in Digital Realty's Singapore data center in the west of the city, to complement SGIX's two existing peering points in the east
