The Philippines' University of San Carlos (USC) has deployed team engagement software from Avaya to enhance network performance, improve user experience and reduce network downtime.

Situated in Metro Cebu, USC is one of the top ten universities in the Philippines with history dating back to 1595. As one of the busiest universities in the nation, it has over 30,000 students - almost a quarter of them from outside the Philippines.

USC needed to refresh its infrastructure to remain at the forefront of contemporary education in its pursuit for the latest in science, technology and the arts and support growing trends in e-learning and BYOD.

With 40% downtime and severe network congestion in the University’s old network, staff and students were often not able to access class materials which limited class progress and performance. Tackling sluggish speeds, frequent congestion and regular downtime was a top priority for the university.

With the deployment of Avaya products, USC was able to simplify configuration through network automation, improve campus network bandwidth by 10 times from 1 gigabyte to 10 gigabyte and ensure 1 gigabyte connectivity to the desktop.

Students can now use high-bandwidth applications such as virtual learning classrooms to improve cross-campus collaboration. Students and staff can also depend on a more reliable user experience.
