picoChip has unveiled its PC500, an integrated baseband processor that is code-compatible with the company’s PC960x µTCA-based development system.

Running picoChip’s PC860x software-defined long term evolution modem, the PC500 provides a low-risk platform for carrier-class enterprise and metro femtocell products.

The PC500 uses picoChip’s multi-core signal processing technology to deliver the physical layer, lower MAC and cryptographic features required for LTE.

The PC500 will be available to qualified customers in the first quarter of 2011.
