PLDT claimed that strong subscriber growth has helped the company corner a 55% share of the nation's postpaid mobile market.

The operator added 387,000 new postpaid mobile customers last year, taking its total subscriber base to 2.8 million, the Philippines Starsaid. Postpaid mobile revenues meanwhile climbed 14% to 21.7 billion pesos ($490.2 million).

The PLDT Group's total mobile customer base reached 69.9 million, with its Smart brand adding 419,000 subscribers to 25.9 million.

Sun Cellular added 728,000 subscribers to take its total to 15.8 million, while Talk ‘N Text had a subscriber base of 28.1 million.

Total mobile revenue fell 1.37% to 115 billion pesos, with prepaid revenue falling 6% to 79.1 billion pesos. Declining SMS and voice revenue contributed to the lower mobile revenue.

PLDT has been making a push to further improve its postpaid customer base, offering plans bundled with entry-level smartphones, a data allocation and a subscription to unlimited music streaming service Deezer.
