PLDT, the Philippines’ largest telco, is extending its global reach through a deal to access TeliaSonera International Carrier’s (TSIC) IP network.

The agreement covers access to multiple TSIC 10 Gbps ports in Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America, opening the door for PLDT to enter new markets and improve the quality of its existing international outsourcing services.

TSIC president, Erik Hallberg, says his firm’s strong presence in Asia Pacific was a key attraction for PLDT, noting the region “now serves as a growing destination for outsourced global business.”

The agreement also provides an upgrade path to 100-G ports, Genaro Sanchez, vice president of networks at PLDT, adds.
