PLDT unit plans fiber-optic gateway

SubicTel, a unit of Philippine dominant carrier PLDT, plans to invest 212 million pesos ($4.5 million) in a project that would make Subic Bay Freeport Zone a fiber optic gateway for IT firms.

The project would make the freeport zone part of PLDT's domestic fiber optic network, the country's most extensive fiber optic network, the firm said.
