Despite a weak global economy, global PON equipment revenues grew 9% sequentially in the first quarter, according to a newly published report by Dell\'Oro Group.
PON revenue growth in during the period was higher than expected due to rapidly increasing EPON build-outs in China, strong GPON ONT shipments for Verizon\'s FiOS service, and continued strong EPON demand in Japan.
The report also shows that Mitsubishi remained the leader in the overall PON market, followed by Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei.
