On April 11, the Broadband Asia & TV Connect Asia 2016 kicked off in Jakarta, Indonesia. At the summit, ZTE promoted its 4K UHD big video solution that is oriented to Asia-Pacific customers to help them seize new market opportunities created by rapid data traffic growth.

Mobile data traffic of operators is growing rapidly, and the video data traffic, as industry consultancies predict, will account for more than 95% of the total network data consumption by 2020, which makes the video service the next value highland for operators. At the MWC 2016 in Barcelona, ZTE took the lead to propose the concept of Big Video featuring big network, big content, big data, and big ecosystem, which attracts spotlights in the industry. At this summit, considering development status and requirements of the Asia-Pacific market, ZTE launched its E2E 4K UHD big video solution oriented to Asia-Pacific customers.

At the summit, ZTE also demonstrated several innovative set-top-box models developed for its 4K big video solution, among which, the ZTE B800S2 and the ZTE HC100 drew much attention.
The B800S2 is a IPTV/OTT dual-mode AndroidTV set-top-box. It uses the latest high-end Broadcom chip, 64-bit architecture, and industry-leading dual-core CPU offering a performance of 12000 DMIPS to handle more complicated computing demands. With built-in 3D GPU and 4K HDR (3840×2160@60fps 10-Bit Color) UHD, it delivers clearer and smoother high-definition video effect to users.

The HC100 is an innovative home cloud set-top-box that integrates 4K UHD, Smart Home, NAS, and Home CDN. It uses the latest Android 5.1 system and JVM to be compatible with Android applications, and supports video call, home monitoring, home sensor monitoring, multi-screen interaction and miracast, and home media sharing. It features powerful quad-core CPU (2.0GHz), 3D GPU and 4K (3840×2160@60fps 10-Bit Color) UHD and H.265.

ZTE's E2E 4K UHD system provides comprehensive support for H.265 to ensure efficient transmission of 4K video stream, and uses a private network for 4K to guarantee high QoS of the 4K video service. In addition, it is equipped with high-performance and ultra-large-storage CDN devices to safeguard high efficiency of the 4K video service.

“4K is just a prelude of the Big Video era", said Zhu Jinyun, ZTE’s Senior VP. “ZTE already proposed the next-generation EyeWill Big Video solution. This solution uses the NFV-based video service platform to provide a brand new smart video pipeline based on integrated CDN. It helps operators build up a service capability openness platform that is more intelligent and more open.
