The Internet of Things (IoT) holds the potential for major disruptive effects across a wide variety of market sectors, such as healthcare, transportation, energy, manufacturing and government.

Meanwhile, there are a number of important horizontal policy issues that affect the IoT across markets and use cases.

Not surprisingly, policymakers are taking a much greater interest in the IoT, and are attempting to craft forward-looking laws and regulations that keep pace with innovation – or at least do not hinder it.

This white paper offers a general framework for such policy discussions. The recommendations in this report are applicable across market sectors, and will help ensure that the full economic, societal, and technological potential of the Internet of Things is ultimately realized.

This white paper first appeared on The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) website
