Report: Taiwan will ship $40B in high-tech equipment by 2009

Taiwan's booming communications equipment industry is forecasted to grow further driven by GPS and wireless technologies

Latest report from Taiwan's Market Intelligence Center (MIC) forecasted that the country's industry will be shipping more than $40 billion worth of equipment worldwide by 2009.

Major growth momentum in the industry is expected to come from smart cellular devices, GPS and WLAN equipment, the report said.

According to the report, more than 60 percent of Taiwan's industry value is contributed by smart cellular devices.

Another 20 percent is contributed by emerging products such as Wimax equipment, femto access points, IP cameras, among many others, MIC added.
