The Satellite Users Interference Reduction Group (SUIRG) has adopted a new name and made key changes in its management structure.

The organization is now known as Satellite IRG to broaden its mission beyond the needs of the user community.

Martin Coleman was named the group’s new executive director.

He said IRG will continue its practical initiatives of establishing carrier ID, training and certification and type approvals while also increasing its support of other major groups such as the Global VSAT Forum (GVF) and the World Broadcasting Union’s International Satellite Operations Group (WBU-ISOG).

Coleman praised out-going president Robert Ames, who was a founding member of SUIRG a decade ago.
