More than 90% of postpaid mobile subscribers in Singapore have experienced “bill shock,” either locally or while roaming, particularly when using data services.

A survey by Acision reveals that more than 60% of those polled admit that they do not know how much mobile data actually cost.

Another 60% reveals that they do not know when they have reached the limit on their bundled plans. As a result, 90% says they would like to receive notification when limits are reached, with an option to extend limits on demand.

The study shows that being on a capped plan does not necessarily help customers as the ceiling applies only to local usage.

Compared to the more than 60% of respondents who do not receive notifications when their limits are reached, only 9% of those polled says they receive such alerts.
