SingTel wins 5-year G-Cloud contract

Singapore's Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) has awarded its G-Cloud five-year tenderto deploy a private cloud computing infrastructure to SingTel.

The carrier will tap VMware vSphere for the winning proposal which will leverages end-to-end virtualization solutions, according to a report. With the same cloud infrastructure used by both government agencies and service providers, VMware enables secure interoperability between private and public clouds, highlighting the benefits of a hybrid cloud approach.

Additionally, VMware solutions are based on open standards and extend to a global partner network of public cloud providers, allowing public sector IT teams to move applications and data between clouds quickly and easily.

Both companies have also collaborated in delivering SingTel PowerON Compute - an on-demand enterprise hybrid cloud solution powered by the VMware vCloud Datacenter Services.
