Sony and Dell will ship notebooks equipped with Intel Wimax chips, according to a MuniWireless report.

This was disclosed by Dadi Perlmutter, senior vice president for Intel's mobility group at the recent Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, the report said.

Sony and Dell join other laptop makers Asus, Acer, Toshiba, Lenovo and Panasonic who have announced they will ship Intel-based laptops with Wimax.

Perlmutter hinted laptops embedded with Intel's Wimax chips will become available first quarter next year.
