Singapore's StarHub has launched a new all-in-one media streaming set top box that combines content from its own catalog as well as that from the Google Play store.

The StarHub Go Streaming Box is the first such device in the world to run the Operator Tier version of the Android TV Oreo OS.

StarHub said the operator tier version of the OS allows operators to provide customers with a customized user interface.

The box also comes preloaded with YouTube, Google Play Movies, and Google Play Games, and supports the Google Play store as well as Chromecast streaming from the TV set to smart devices.

The set top box comes preloaded with a Family subscription to StarHub Go, which includes over 50 local and international live TV and catch-up channels. Customers will be able to purchase other Go packs through the device.

StarHub is offering the box for S$14.90 ($10.92) per month on a 24-month contract when bundled with the company's 1Gbps fiber broadband service at S$39.90 per month, or as a standalone product at an introductory price of S$199 and a usual price of S$249.

“Our customers want the freedom to choose which programs to watch, where to watch and when to watch it, and the StarHub Go Streaming Box delivers on every front,” StarHub head of product Justin Ang said.

“With just a few clicks, customers can easily access all their favorite content from StarHub Go and other streaming apps on a single platform.”
