Tata Comm has won a contract to deploy and run telepresence facilities for German reinsurance company Hannover Re.

The company said it will roll out the telepresence facilities, which are powered by Cisco Telepresence technology, in 18 locations across 16 countries worldwide.

Tata will also provide maintenance and management as well as scheduling and reservation services.

Hannover Re will meanwhile be able to take advantage of Tata's other telepresence offerings, including public rooms that can be rented by the hour, and an open global telepresence exchange.

Hannover Re CIO Hartmut Fuchs said this ability to combine its internal telepresence networks with the general infrastructure provided by Tata was the factor that convinced the firm to award the business to the operator.
