Carrier Ethernet vendor Telco Systems has previewed a new cell site gateway and a multi-service aggregation switch to complement its packet backhaul suite.

The T-Marc 3208SH cell site gateway and T-Metro 7124S 10G multi-service aggregation switch, due to launch in Q3, have been designed to allow carriers to backhaul traffic from across multiple 2G, 3G, and 4G cell cites via a carrier Ethernet access network.

They aim to enable a wireless backhaul upgrade without touching the core network, to allow carriers to maximize on their infrastructure investments.

Both devices support the SyncE, IEEE 1588v2, external clock and phase source methods of synchronization, as well as multiple combinations thereof.
